Guide to replicate Smart Energy Efficiency Services

In cooperation with several other European projects, SMARTSPACES developed one ‘Guide for Replication‘. The ‘Guide‘ presents how Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) can be utilised to improve energy efficiency (EE) in non-residential and residential buildings.
French Mayors and Directors for Urban Planning visiting pilot site in Milan

A delegation of 70 French Mayors and Directors for Urban Planning came to Milan on 3 July 2015. École de Reneuvelleiment Urbain organised the excursion. The SMARTSPACES pilot site partners in Milan presented the project amongst other sustainability initiatives of the City Council of Milan.
SMARTSPACES Project Final Report Published

As the recently published final report on the SMARTSPACES project shows, financial pay-off is achieved by most stakeholders during the first 3 years and by almost all stakeholders after ten year across seven eleven sites in seven countries. The socio-economic net benefit for the SMARTSPACES project – applying the worst case scenario, extrapolated for ten years – amounts to €4.2Million in pilot buildings alone.
SMARTSPACES MURCIA National Winner of the Energy Globe Award 2014

Murcia SMARTSPACES Project has been chosen by the Energy Globe Award jury as national winner of Spain. The ENERGY GLOBE Award is today’s most prestigious environmental award. It is awarded annually to projects focusing on energy efficiency, renewable energies and the conservation of resources.

SMARTSPACES in Birmingham demonstrates role of ICT to achieve energy savings

As a result of the SMARTSPACES project, Birmingham is now able to explore how the newly generated data can be integrated into the existing building management system, particularly in relation to load and lighting management. The SMARTSPACES initiative has also proved key to affecting behavioural change and in turn reduced energy consumption in the three pilot sites and an additional 40 Birmingham City Council buildings have been added to the service.

On 10 December 2014 the seminar "SMARTSPACES Application of ICT to produce energy savings in public buildings" was organised in Lleida with more than 20 students of the Master of Industrial Engineering of the University of Lleida participating.

Municipal Cleaners become Green Cleaners

Murcia Municipal Cleaning Service participates in a pioneer training course in the framework of SMARTSPACES Project, addressed to Cleaning Service Heads and Cleaning Staff. The aim of the training is to implement good practices in order to reduce the consumption of energy and water during the cleaning.

Local businesses to learn the benefits of SMARTSPACES

Businesses from the Sustainable Harborough network will hear how SmartSpaces has helped DMU and Leicester City Council engage with staff, students and visitors to reduce energy as part of the networks Energy Club meeting. The University’s Environmental & Sustainability Officer will highlight the benefits of engaging staff on sustainability and environmental issues and the benefits that using SmartSpaces brings to this process. The Energy Club will meet on 27th November.
