SMARTSPACES Shortlisted for Green Gown Award

The Leicester SMARTSPACES projects has been shortlisted for the EUAC (Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges) Green Gown Award, www.eauc.org.uk/2014_finalists in the Technical Innovation for Sustainability category. The winners will be announced on 3rd November 2014 in Manchester.

Current status and results of energy projects

eeMeasure reports results from a number of ICT PSP project which aim at addressing energy savings potential through implementation of ICT based solutions in residential or non-residential buildings. Various projects have uploaded their project data on eeMeasure software tool (e.g. eSESH, BECA, E3SOHO, 3e-HOUSES, Best Energy, HosPilot, Save Energy, HosPilot, etc.) and respective saving results are already available on reports published on eeMeasure.

Big steps in Belgrade towards a more eco friendly heating behaviour

A meeting was held on 19 July 2014 at the Belgrade pilot site City Council in order to prepare for the next heating season. During the meeting, the City Administration approved the proposal by the project team in that locations related to the site of the SMARTSPACES project replace their heating fuel with a more eco-friendly light oil. This decision is an important step towards solving issues with harmful combustion products.

SMARTSPACES Publishable Summary "Pilot Operation" (D5.1)

The publishable summary gives an overview on the SMARTSPACES recruitment and training activities. The document presents strategy that has been develop in order to recruit staff and generally raise the level of awareness and willingness to change the efficiency behaviour of people. The developed strategy has been implemented in each pilot site while taking into account pilot specific information, such as age of the users (professionals, staff, visitors), social status, job profile, etc. This document focuses on the elements of the strategy and examples of their application within the pilots.

The SMARTSPACES project enables public authorities in Europe significantly to improve their management of energy in the buildings they occupy. The SMARTSPACES energy optimisation service exploits the potential of ICT including smart metering for significant energy saving in public buildings. The implementation of operational services includes 11 pilot sites with more than 550 buildings in 8 countries with almost 20,000 professionals and staff users and reaching more than 6,000,000 visitors annually. The project is co-funded by the European Commission within the CIP ICT Policy Support Programme.
